NSL-17

We launched at the GREENSBORO ODYSSEY event the afternoon of October 12th.

View of downtown Greensboro just after launch

This was a 600g cell with a 900g payload of two video cameras.  Maximum recorded height was 95,997 feet. (APRS max 95559ft)

Here is a still from one of the cameras pointed up during the burst of the cell.

Here are two superimposed images of the balloon from the upward facing camera. Note how much the balloon expands during flight.

Very interesting visualization of the flight.  Note the spike at high altitude.

Here is a close up of that spike and its ground track.  Go home balloon, you’re drunk !

We got video of the moon and lots of images at different heights of a solar “glory”.

We got full video from both cameras from launch to landing.  Recovery was a lot of fun — even with a one way, dead end road.  There was a lone tree out in a pasture, so of course that’s where it decided to land.
